The other day...

We sometimes sing the national anthem at ceremonies. The other day, my club teacher showed us the words of the American national anthem. I had listened to the Star-Spangled Banner on TV. When I listened to it, I had the impression that it was a brave and cheerful song. I didn’t know that it was a song of victory. I think the Japanese national anthem is calm and the melody is soft. I want to listen to other national anthems.
I thought about Mexican anthem. I think it is very passionate. It let people confront to invasion I think Mexico was occupied and at that time the anthem was made by Mexican. It is very differentfrom Japanese anthemBefore I read it, other countries national anthem like a Japanese anthem. But it isn't and I came to be interested in national anthem
Hi, I'm Takayuki.
I thought about a national anthem of the Philippines.
The Philippines had been occupied by Japan.
But the Philippines got their freedom.
Then, this national anthem was made.
So I felt the strengh of the Philippines from it.

Thank you.

The national anthem of French .

I think that the national anthem of French is very violent. That of Japan is leisurely.
That of Japan is just for His Majesty the Emperor.
The words of that of French appears bloody battle history ofFrench.
"Dye flag an enemies blood"
It seems strange that there is such a terrible national anthem.
I think that French have been wanting liberty.

We talked about National Anthems last week .First, we thought about japanese National Anthem kimigayo.ofcouse!! I did not know what it means .because I do not know even if where Himalaya Mountains is .I compared Franch National Anthem with Japanese one.Franch National Anthem was about its history especially about revolution.Perhaps ,French people are proud of their history and understand their National Anthem. so that , Japanese National Anthem is very poor. We are only singing about emperor again
and again. An emperor is only a symbol of japan ,is not it ? so, I think we do not need to sing about emperor. We have a right of thinking about nation. And now Japan is developing ...so I do not disagree to change National Anthem . I am very sleepy............... The
exam ended. I am happy. by nao

Norwegian national anthem

Last week,I read the Norwegian national anthem at first. It was difficult for me to realize.
I felt Norwegian really love country and take care of thire ancestors.
But Japanese "KIMIGAYO" is unlike. It is respect the Emperor. And it wasn't written about Japanese. So it is only referring to the Emperor.
I want to compare two anthems.Norwegian national anthem is viewpoint from the nation. On the other hand,KIMIGAYO's viewpoint from the Emperor.
Finaly,it is interesting that we can see thire history, climate and culture.

Thank you(*゜∀゜)┘

National Anthems

In the last club meeting(5/11 Fri.), we studied national anthems.

First of all, we read Japanese national anthem "Kimi Ga Yo".
I hadn't been able to understand the meaning of it at all, because it is written in classical Japanese.
When I was an elementary school student, my music teacher told me that the lylics were beautiful, but I didn't understand why.
I used to think "Kimi Ga Yo" was a beautiful song, mainly sung at ceremonies and it is a tradition. That was all my ideas about it.
However, when I read the Japanese national anthem in English for the first time, I could understand what it is saying!
Reading it in English was easier than reading in Japanese!
I was surprised and I wondered why it is difficult to understand in my native language.
Isn't it strange?

Next, we read national anthems of other countries.
I read India's. There were a lot of words showing the names of places and the song was about a Got.
I could see that gods are everything for Indian people and gods are absolute.
I am Japanese and I don't believe in god, so I thought it is different that people are so serious about their gods.

National anthems are one of a country's symbols. We can see the character of the country from it.
The Japanese national anthem is a traditional song written in the Heian period, composed in the Meiji period and sung all around Japan up to now.
So I think it is a kind of national treasure. It is hard to understand the meaning, but I think we should study about our own culture and history from "Kimi Ga Yo".
It would be a nice point to study about our country, Japan.

If I could change something about Japan...

Hello!(*^∪^*)
If I could change something about Japan, I would want people to stop to throw away trash along the street.
It is because I feel sad when I see trash near some beautiful flowers.
I always see trash along the street when I go to school.
I do not know why they don't throw away trash. I think it is an irresponsible act.
If Japanese people stop to throw away trash along the street, Japan will be a better country.
